Women are the heart of the family and of family economics in rural Ghanaian villages. Income opportunities are sparse, require incredible effort and there is often little infrastructure to support them.
We have tried to support the women through training and through the development of Women’s Enterprise Centres which are used for shea butter as well as many of their other activities. You can read more about our approach in this blog
We also have interesting videos about the Women’s Enterprise Centre we developed in Tabiasi. Here is one that discusses how we built it and maximized local impact and here is another that shows how it is used.
Working with in-country development volunteers Baraka Supplies has facilitated the development of women’s enterprise centres in Tabiasi, Tapko and Kperisi. These centres are used by the women for various production and subsistence activities.
